ANZAC Dawn service Kings Park, Perth 5:30 - 7:30
followed by the ANZAC Day parade on Perth Streets.
Dedicated to my uncle Ben Grummels senior. Killed by "Zero" fighter plane bullets while at the helm of his Dutch Mitchell B25 light bomber on return from Timor, heading to his Darwin NT base, in the defense of Australia. He had baby twins and a wife in Sydney.
Note the "Dutch flag" on this plane.
Photo I took of of the statue of WW1 General "Talbot Hobbs" weeks before his grandson and my classmate, Guy Hobbs (IM) died.
At a recent Photo Walk in Fremantle, I saw an old submarine which made me think of the British submarine "Tradewind" which left Fremantle in WWII to sink a Jap prisoner of war boat without a red cross flag. My grandfather drowned in this "Juno Maru" ("Juno Mayru") in one of the biggest maritime disasters ever.
