Compared to other tertiary-educated professionals, nurses have one of the worst pay rates, and certainly have the worst working conditions. But by sacrificing income and health and staying in the system, is that helping or hindering the changes that need to occur?

Case in point: the tyre-slashing vandalism at PMH. The only response I've seen suggested so far is installation of security cameras. Why aren't our nurses protected by actual security guards? When is any government going to firstly fund health in line with population growth, and secondly put real money into prevention? Probably when enough health workers vote with their feet.
