presents a free workshop series for City of Joondalup performers and storytellers to perfect their craft

What’s Your Story?
Learn to dig inside your own life to find humorous and relatable material to turn into entertaining stories that can be shared with an audience. Comedian and co-creator of Barefaced Stories, Andrea Gibbs will help participants to develop and deliver their own stories ready for the stage. Participants will learn the basic elements of storytelling including point of view, character, stage presence, confidence and most importantly finding the truth in their tales. Under the guidance of Andrea Gibbs, participants are given feedback and tools to help craft their stories into compelling narratives that are engaging, moving and inspiring. Attendance is required at all workshops. The course is open to performers and non-performers and will be held at the Joondalup Library, Boas Avenue, Joondalup.

About the instructor
Andrea Gibbs is the co-creator of Barefaced Stories & core comedian at The Big HOO-HAA! impro comedy group (WA/VIC). She began improvising in 2002 with The Big HOO HAA!, competed in the Australian National Theatresports Championships (NSW) and trained with Keith Johnstone at Loose Moose Theatre Company (CANADA). In 2005 she won Triple J’s Raw Comedy WA State Final and was selected to perform in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s showcase show ‘The Comedy Zone’ the following year. Through 2006-07 she co-hosted the Breakfast Show on 96fm with Tony & Fitzi.
As an actor, Andrea has performed with Griffin Theatre Company (Sydney), Perth Theatre Company, REAL TV, Black Swan State Theatre Company and Barking Gecko. Her film/TV credits include Very Small Business (ABCTV), The Stepmonster (Nickelodeon), My Year Without Sex (2009) & Cookie Crumbles (2013).
In 2010, Andrea studied storytelling in New York with teacher Margot Leitman (UCB Theatre & The Moth, NYC) before returning to create Perth’s most exciting storytelling show, Barefaced Stories with co-creator and best mate Kerry O’Sullivan. She has recently returned from Boston's Women In Comedy Festival 2013 where she performed alongside a host of the world's best storytelling comedians. She has written and produced three solo shows. The latest, Grow Up, toured Australia and New Zealand in 2013. Andrea is currently touring with Griffin Theatre Company in Sydney, Canberra & Perth.
