Government has forced businesses to spend huge proportions of our valuable time on administration of tax collection on their behalf, yet when it comes to simple legislation to make that collection impost easier, they fail us.

I sometimes do my own bookkeeping and find data entry from receipts a real time consuming pain in the a*** looking at faded, poorly inked, tax receipts with dates and receipt numbers anywhere our free enterprise system permits. I love free enterprise but the waste of time by millions of people search for this information on source documents such as receipts is a waste of millions of person hours. What's wrong with Government legislating that all new cash registers, receipt books, any kind of receipt must have the date and receipt number (even ABN) in relation to a rectangular piece of paper, in THE SAME PLACE? Top, bottom middle, bottom RHS, top LHS, who cares where but please Mr Treasurer let's get some Australian standard to stop WASTING our PRECIOUS time.
