It's good to see Shell's "Prelude" floating LNG processing project's promotion of its plans to contribute to charities in Perth Western Australia but at the time of writing I haven't seen quantitative reports showing Shell's social investment in Western Australia. Shell is a large company with much to gain from tapping into Western Australia's enormous natural gas reserves. What Shell plans to contribute is clear but how much is not?

The Premier of Western Australia said on the ABC's Q&A TV program, that the Prelude FLNG project will be of little benefit to Western Australians however Ann Pickard of Shell Australia said at the Deep Offshore Technology conference in Perth that the Prelude LNG project would create $45B in GDP and pay significant tax to the federal (not state) government.
