The Western Australian National Party have agreed to join with the Liberal (conservative) party. This will give their coalition a majority of the overal 59 members in the lower house of the Western Australian Parliament. Colin Barnett, leader of the Liberal Party of Western Australia is expected to be sworn in as the premier of Western Australia at Government house in Perth in coming days.

The Legislative Assembly, which has a member elected from each of the 59 electoral districts. The political party, or coalition of parties, that has a majority in the Legislative Assembly forms the Western Government. The Legislative Council, which has 36 members representing six multi-member regions each having 6 members. The Western Australian Parliament usually meets at Parliament House in Perth.
